Lider Zespołu IDoc jest ekspertem w dziedzinie obrazowania biomedycznego, zwłaszcza w tomografii optycznej OCT i technikach pochodnych, których celem jest zwiększenie dokładności diagnostycznej i ukierunkowanie zabiegów operacyjnych. Takie podejście ma na celu poprawę wyników zdrowotnych, głównie w okulistyce i onkologii. Dr Curatolo uzyskał tytuł doktora w dziedzinie biofotoniki na Uniwersytecie Zachodniej Australii.
Jest autorem ponad 30 publikacji w recenzowanych czasopismach międzynarodowych znajdujących się w pierwszym kwartylu (Q1), w tym trzech rozdziałów w książkach specjalistycznych. Dr Curatolo jest również zaangażowany w badania nad wdrożeniami klinicznymi i komercjalizacjętechnologii biofotonicznych. Jest autorem kilku wniosków patentowych i współpracuje z firmami z branży medycznej (MedTech).
