Dr. Simon Winter is a researcher specializing in visual optics, retinal imaging, and ophthalmic instrumentation. He earned his PhD at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, where he investigated the optical and psychophysical aspects of peripheral vision. Following his doctoral studies, he gained extensive experience in optical product development at the independent consultancy Eclipse Optics, working on projects from initial concept through manufacturing.

Drawing on both industrial and academic expertise, he returned to research with a focus on retinal image quality and advanced ocular imaging. His current work aims to advance optical coherence tomography (OCT) for high-resolution structural imaging and functional assessment of the human eye, with the goal of improving our understanding and early diagnosis of retinal conditions.
