I have completed my B.Sc (Hons.) and M.Sc in Zoology. My area of interests are biochemistry, neuroscience, developmental biology and evolutionary biology. My post-graduation dissertation involved looking into the effect of inflammation on the anti-oxidant enzymes in the brain. Though zoologist by training, I became fascinated with biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology during my final semesters of post-graduation. After completion of my M.Sc in Zoology from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India in 2022, I continued as a trainee in the same department for about a year and learned about phylogenetics and protein biochemistry. I then joined CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, India in the lab of Prof. Janesh Kumar as a project trainee for one year in 2023 and gained further hands-on experience in protein purfication and their study through cryo-electron microscopy. At present, I am a doctoral student in the Warsaw PhD School in Natural and BioMeedical Sciences at the Integrted Structural Biology Lab, ICTER, IPC PAS. My area of research deals with the biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology of retinal phosphodiesterase (PDE6), giving me a space to gain further research experience in the field of biochemistry, structural biology and neuroscience as a whole.
