Justyna Czarnecka, PhD

Justyna is a biotechnologist by training. She graduated Technical University of Łódź and did her PhD at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Technical University of Gdańsk.

Justyna has been involved in many joined R&D projects in collaboration with private sector for the last couple of years. She played a key role as a researcher and manager in projects supported by various funding agencies, including NCBiR (PBS program), European Research Council (ERCPoC), Norway Grants (POLNOR program). Justyna has an expertise in biochemistry, biotechnology and protein engineering.

While working at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, she was investigating biochemical and enzymatic properties of RNases, including their structure. She brought her knowledge into Mossakowski Medical Research Institute Polish Academy of Sciences, where she was developing new antibacterials targeting specifically various pathogens. Her results allowed to apply for patent protection of new technology.

Research aims to elucidate the mechanisms of vision, particularly proteins of the phototransduction pathway and the visual cycle, at an atomic and molecular level.
