Description

Her expertise lies in molecular biology, genetics, and virology. The main part of her experimental activity focuses on creating and modifications of viral vectors for gene therapies.

Dr. Płaczkiewicz graduated from the Department of Cytology at the University of Warsaw receiving “Diploma Honorificum”, Rector’s Award for the best master’s degree program students. She defended her Ph.D. dissertation with summa cum laude at the Department of Molecular Virology, University of Warsaw. During her Ph.D. studies, she was the principal investigator of the two scientific projects, supported by the National Science Centre grant Preludium no. 2017/27/N/NZ6/00628 and by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education through the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw (DSM grant no. #86-011500-36). She received an honorable mention for the project completion report for the DSM grant.

She did a 3-month internship at the Research Center: Genetic Reproduction and Development (GReD), Universite d’Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand,  France.

She published the results of her scientific work during PhD studies as the first author of two original research articles and co-author of two others. In September 2021 she was awarded the Scientist of the Future (Naukowiec Przyszłości) prize by the Centre for Intelligent Growth (Centrum Inteligentnego Rozwoju).

From October 2023 she is a principal investigator of her project “Chimeric Rhodopsin as a novel optogenetic tool”, Sonatina 7, National Science Centre, 2023/48/C/NZ5/00081.
