Research Group Coordinator (MCBO-2_16/2024)

For our dynamically growing Centre, we are looking for a Research Group Coordinator – a key person in our organizational structure, responsible for maintaining the highest, world-class level in the conduct of scientific research.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the work of the leader and team members (organizing seminars, work meetings, business meetings).
  • Making decisions on the day-to-day activities of the team;
  • Active participation in the development of grant applications, preparation of reports and administrative handling of research and development projects (domestic and foreign, including European projects);
  • Assist in editing scientific texts and creating graphics for popularization and general works;
  • Support in handling patent applications;
  • Handling contacts with industrial partners (organization and conduct of meetings, circulation of documentation, etc.);
  • Organization and coordination of: recruitment of candidates for employment/internship in the team, business trips of team members, visits of guests visiting the team, purchases;
  • Maintaining and updating the team website and internal team information exchange database;
  • Maintaining the internal library and bibliographic databases (using EndNote software);
  • Managing the team’s data server and software licenses.
  • Managing the affairs of foreigners employed in the research team, including, but not limited to, arrival and residence issues.

Requirements:

  • Higher education
  • Very good knowledge of English (fluent oral and written communication).
  • Knowledge of the specifics of grant proposal writing and research grant implementation;
  • Independence and readiness to make out-of-the-box decisions.
  • Communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and conduct meetings.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, availability (Monday-Friday), responsibility and punctuality of tasks performed.
  • Computer literacy, including word processing skills.

Nice to have:

  • Phd degree in physics, biophysics, robotics or related field;

ICTER (International Centre for Translational Eye Research) is seeking a Director of Education and Translation to play a key role in integrating cutting-edge vision research with educational initiatives, while driving the translation of scientific discoveries into real-world solutions. Requirements for Education and Translation Director of ICTER: 

  • Career rank: Candidates should hold the rank of PhD. A background in education; intellectual property (IP) management; or research, development, and innovation (RDI) centres is highly desirable. 
  • Experience in Translation and IP Management: Demonstrated experience in supervising the implementation of scientific translation, with a focus on bridging the gap between research and practical applications.

The person will also be responsible for performing dynamic research to create a competitive research group. The positions will be assigned to the Structural Biology (ISB) Group. Research in the Integrated Structural Biology (ISB) Group aims to elucidate the mechanisms of vision, particularly involving proteins of the phototransduction pathway and the visual cycle, at an atomic and molecular level, using structural biology techniques and other complementary biophysical characterization methods.

Group Leader – Image-guided Devices for Ophthalmic Care (IDoc), ICTER Group

The Principal Investigator and Group Leader will have a direct impact on lab development and its success in publishing in high impact factor journals. The person will also be responsible for performing dynamic research to create a competitive research group. The positions will be assigned to the Image-guided Devices for Ophthalmic Care (IDoc) group. Within ICTER, the IDoc Laboratory seeks to work on the development and testing of multi-beams OCT for simultaneous probing of cornea deformation induced with non-contact stimulus. The system will allow for fast screening of early-stage keratoconus.

On the other hand, the IDoc lab seeks to develop a novel platform for intraoperative ophthalmic OCT image guidance of robotic-aided treatments to fulfill unmet surgical needs in minimally invasive surgery on the eye (anterior and posterior pole). Novel IR shadowless optical sheathing for smart surgical instruments will be developed.

PhD student in Computational Biology, Neuroinformatics and related (MCBO-2_7/2024) – competition ended, vacancy filled

ICTER seeks applicants with a MSc Degree, and experience in computational biology techniques such as neuronal network modeling, electrophysiological data analyses and/or bioinformatics. Candidates should be interested in translational research and the development of new therapies to cure blindness or eye diseases.
The PhD scholar will have a direct impact on lab development and its success in publishing in high impact factor journals. The person will be also responsible for performing dynamic research to create a competitive research group. The position will be assigned to Ophthalmic Biology Group led by Dr. Andrzej Foik, focused on the development of new therapies to prevent/cure blindness, visual information processing in the visual system before and after plasticity that happens due to disease or after vision recovery.

FENG.02.01-IP.05-T005/23. It is a collaboration between the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS and University College London, UK.

Project description: The International Centre for Translational Eye Research (ICTER) is a multi-investigator centre for eye research as related to imaging and biochemical techniques to support advances in understanding the etiology and treatment of human blinding diseases. The new research agenda (carried under International Research Agenda project no. FENG.02.01-IP.05-T005/23) aims to develop new tools for safer and more effective surgical interventions, new therapies for eye diseases, and diagnostic methods to improve prognosis and restore vision. The main technology to be developed under this program will be a novel robotic system for delivering drugs to the eye and performing a tissue biopsy, in which a robotic system will assist in the micromanipulation of the injection device with 3-D localized imaging.
